"As a disabled person who works in theatre, I'm always going to be challenging somebody's perceptions just by walking on stage. So I might as well play with that and have real fun with it" Daryl Beeton
Daryl's aim is to create work that jumps the boundaries that theatre can sometimes present. By mixing up styles and formats Daryl creates entertaining theatre that is energetic, refreshing and soulful. Daryl wants the work to be seen by the largest possible diverse audience. So he toys with all our personal barriers, whether they are pyhsical, cultural or attitudinal, giving his work a universal appeal.
Moments in Motion is a strong physical and comical performance, using theatre, dance and trapeze as it foundations. The story follows a young gay man looking for Mr. Right, spending anxious hours by the phone waiting for the guy he meet in a nightclub to call. The experience triggers the dark and twisted flashbacks to his childhood experiences of waiting on cold hospital trolleys for operations and spending nights on the wards all afraid and alone.
As we continue to watch we're unsure if what we are witnessing, before our very eyes, is a real dating disater or another one of his blown up fantasies getting out of control. This leaves the audience unsure of whats going to happen next or where this story will take them. Moments in Motion explores the dark and funny side of growing up different from everyone else and looks at the ways in which we cope with our own internal loneliness.
